Some general principle reminders:

  • Big shapes down to small
  • General info before details
  • Light lines to dark lines

Today’s task was to draw a basic still life with just volumetric shapes (no shading or detail). I did this a few times.

A few prescriptions I have for myself:

  • Practice drawing more boxes of unusual proportions at non-standard angles to the drawing plane. I find it a little hard to get proportion angles right when vanishing points are far off the page.
  • More practice translating light drawing approach into on-the-page technique. Drawing lines in some angles still feels much more awkward, especially when there is a need for precision.
