Drawing Practice: Day 4
Today was about thinking about curves. Some notes to self:
- The exercise with breaking down curves was the most challenging. It requires good ability to draw lines in all directions and I still feel awkward and not fully in control in some directions. I’m also not sure about the right process for darkening curves once the basic construction is there.
- Something that I find that I forget as I am practicing this light drawing, building up approach is that each pass I am taking I should be paying attention in terms of trying to find where the final line should be. The lightness is about refinement, trying to find the “correct” or intended line, so paying attention to where strokes land is the whole point.
- I’m still going back and forth between pencil and light fineliner pen. Somehow I still find the latter more natural for me, even for drawing lightly. I think I have trouble with the thickness of pencil lines, especially from the side. It’s hard to see where the form should be then. But I will keep experimenting with both.
